The most important thing a dentist and his team can do is teach patients what they can do at home to prevent dental problems. These problems are about 95% preventable. My hygienist and I will show you proper brushing and flossing technique, go over things in your diet that which may be contributing, and we will mail you a reminder post card every six months when it is time for a check up. Keeping regular check ups and cleanings will prevent problems and ensure that they are addressed quickly.
I have considerable experience and expertise creating "smile makeovers." Depending upon your needs, a combination of tooth whitening, cosmetic reshaping, minor tooth movement (invisalign), and direct bleaching can transform your smile into something beautiful. Often times something you never thought was possible. Most often these procedures are done with minimal or no tooth grinding, no shots, and very little expense compared to veneers or porcelain caps. (Did you know that bonding all six front teeth costs $600 - $1200, vs. one veneer about $1000?) Bonding, in skilled hands, involves chemically bonding a tooth colored material (matching your tooth color exactly) to your enamel that can close gaps, cover up unsightly discoloration, and even correct minor crowding or misplaced teeth. When finished it is totally natural looking - undetectable, and many of my cases last more than 10 years with out a single touch up. Please visit the smile makeovers page to see examples of what my bonding has done to create attractive smiles.
We see patients who come in for a second opinion or who have been told they need a lot of dental work. We examine, X-ray, and occasionally find that they need nothing. I assure you this will never happen in my office. There are always several ways to solve a tooth problem and they all will be presented to you, with the pro's and con's of each method, so that you and I can decide which route is the best for you.
